Donald Diamond Home
312 North Brazos Street
This charming cottage style home was built in 1944 by Donald Diamond and his wife Faye. Mr. Diamond was very involved in politics and held many meetings in the home with community leaders in the Republican Party including Mr. Jim Wright. Around 1947 the home was sold to Claude and Wanda Bodiford, Claude was the owner of Bodiford Motors in Weatherford. Then in the 1950’s the home sold to Conrad Russell and wife Mel. Mr. Russell was a former mayor of Weatherford and former Manager of the Water & Electric Department. The Russell’s lived in the home until 1993, they were well into their 90’s when the Louvieres purchased the home. Mrs. Louviere is the granddaughter of the Diamonds. The Ellis’ purchased the home in December of 2004 from the fifth owners of the home, the Overmillers.
Over the years the home has been transformed, the upstairs was added in the late 40’s, along with enclosing the original back porch and adding bathrooms. A vast majority of the original charm still exists. The beautiful hardwood floors and wood windows are what make this home so warm and inviting. The current owners have completed many projects including renovating the entire kitchen side of the home, adding modern conveniences but keeping with the cottage style. The home sits on almost ½ acre and is a short walk to shopping on York St.
